Sportsbooks create hundreds of different betting markets for each match and within this section we walk through each of the goal bet types. Goal proposition bets or goal props are based on the likelihood of each goal related market occurring. One of the most popular goal prop being over/under 2.5 goals. When you bet on under, you are looking for the total number of goals in the game to be zero, one or two. If back the overs, you want the total goals in the game to be three or more. Here are the most popular goal props:
A great bet type as you are still in it right to the end. If you back both teams to score, you win if both the home team and the travelling team get on the scoreboard. Commonly seen as BTTS and is in the regulation 90 minutes + added time unless specified.
Backing yes in this market means that you need both the home and travelling team to score a goal in the first 45 minute period of regulation time.
There are six options to choose from in this bet as you look at both teams to score in the game (yes or no) with three potential results (home team win, draw, away team win).
This is to predict the the result of the match and the number of goals each team will score. As an example 2 – 1. This would be the home side to win the match scoring two goals with the travelling side netting one.
The over under markets are based on the total number of goals in the game. Unless otherwise stated, this is in regular time (+stoppage) and relates to the combined number of goals both teams score. Under 2.5 goals would be the game ending in any of the following results: 0-0, 1-0, 0-1, 1-1, 2-0, 0-2. Any other result would be over 2.5 total goals in the game e.g. 2-1, 3-0. Similarly to this, popular over/under markets include 0.5, 1.5, 3.5 and 4.5 goals.
